IVolatility API Now Works With Claude, Cursor, Copilot, and 5 Other AI Assistants

July 24, 2026

Bring IVolatility Data Into the AI Assistant You Already Use

Rather than asking users to adopt yet another platform, we've made the IVolatility API accessible from inside the AI coding assistants developers, quants, and analysts already work with every day.

Starting today, active API subscribers can connect their account directly to:

  • Claude Desktop
  • Claude Code
  • Cursor
  • GitHub Copilot
  • Google Antigravity
  • OpenAI Codex CLI
  • Gemini CLI
  • Kilo Code

No new IDE. No separate subscription. Same IVolatility API key.

Two ways to use it

Data mode

Ask your AI assistant for market data conversationally. The response arrives directly in the chat, ready to use in the same session – no manual endpoint lookups, no code you have to write yourself.

Example prompts:

  • "Pull the SPY options chain for the closest weekly expiration."
  • "Get the 30-day IV history for AAPL."
  • "Show me the current volatility surface for TSLA."

You get back structured option chains, implied volatility metrics, Greeks, skew, NBBO – whatever the endpoint returns – as data your assistant can then analyze, plot, or hand off to a downstream script.

Backtesting mode

Describe a strategy in plain English. Your AI writes the code, runs it against IVolatility's historical options data, and returns real bid/ask pricing, intraday stop-loss handling, parameter optimization, and an equity curve.

Example prompts:

  • "Backtest a short-strangle strategy on SPX with 30 DTE, targeting 20 delta on each side, over the last 5 years."
  • "Compare a covered-call strategy on QQQ versus buy-and-hold for the past 3 years."

The backtest runs against the same institutional-grade data used by our other tools – no synthetic prices, no midpoint fills.

Who this is for

This integration is built for anyone who already has a preferred setup – an IDE, an AI assistant, a keyboard-driven workflow – and wants IVolatility's data available inside that flow rather than in a separate tool.

If you're a quant researcher already using Cursor, a developer coding in Claude Code, or a trader iterating on strategies with Codex CLI – this brings our data to you, not the other way around.

How to set it up

Step-by-step setup instructions for each supported AI tool live inside your IVolatility account. Setup typically takes a couple of minutes per assistant.
